BARNSLEY’S Healthy Holidays programme will be supporting children across the borough once again this October half-term.
The clubs are free to attend and places will be offered first to children who receive school meals.
The scheme is being funded by the council as the government funding doesn’t stretch to this half-term – and council bosses wanted to ensure that families got the extra support they need.
The summer scheme was deemed a success by the council as 7,103 club places were filled – and a range of providers will host clubs across Barnsley this month.
Coun Jenny Platts, cabinet spokesperson for adults and communities, said: “We’re really proud to be launching our Healthy Holidays programme once again.
“This year we’ve supported thousands of children in Barnsley to stay active and eat healthy over the school holidays, and I’m thrilled that our holiday clubs will be back over the October half-term to help more families who might need it.
“I really urge families to take a look at the fantastic clubs on offer and make the most of the fun holiday activities.”
