TRIBUTES have been paid to a cherished member of a Barnsley Hospital craft group.
Sandra McIntyre, 78, played a leading role in the group affectionately known as ‘The Sensational Six’.
Its members knit weekly to create items that are sold in local vendors and hospitals.
In a touching tribute, family and friends donated £270 at her funeral at Barnsley Crematorium in support of the Barnsley Hospital Charity’s new breast care appeal.
Jane Mills, the hospital’s charity development manager, said: “Every week the group meets to knit, crochet and craft with love and purpose.
“From adorable chocolate orange covers and Easter egg knits to baby gifts, flower arrangements and cards – no project was ever too big or too small for Sandra’s talented hands and boundless enthusiasm.
“We honour not only the incredible impact Sandra made, but the legacy she leaves behind in every handmade item, every pound raised and every memory shared.”
Sandra leaves two daughters, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
