A MAN who burgled a hair salon has been jailed.

James Faulkner, of Wath Road, Brampton, pleaded guilty to one charge of burglary having targeted Yazz Hair Salon, on Brampton Road, in October.

A hearing held at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court heard that Faulkner had a ‘flagrant disregard for people and their property’. The 35-year-old was jailed for four months.

A MAN who admitted causing around £1,500 in damage has been jailed. Mahamud Ogle was charged with criminal damage following an incident in October in which banisters, radiators, cupboards, a washing machine and sofa belonging in a Barnsley housing complex operated by Mears Group were destroyed. The 31-year-old also admitted failing to surrender to the police and was jailed for eight weeks. Ogle was also ordered to pay a £154 surcharge.

A DARTON man who distributed sexual-related photographs and films of a woman has been given a suspended prison sentence. Matthew Spence, of Huddersfield Road, changed his plea to guilty following an appearance at Merseyside Magistrates’ Court. The 37-year-old was given a 20-week jail term, suspended for a year, and given a three-year restraining order to prevent him from contacting his victim. He was also told to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work and will pay £1,000 in compensation.

A MAPPLEWELL man who is charged with several motoring offences will appear for sentencing next month. Daniel Lonsdale-Frost, of Towngate, admitted driving with MDMA in his system, aggravated vehicle taking and driving without a licence or insurance. The 35-year-old was stopped in Blackpool on June 1, 2024. He was bailed ahead of his sentencing at Lancaster Magistrates’ Court on May 20.

A MAN who denies hare coursing on farmland has been bailed. Elijah Boswell, of Smithies Lane, Barnsley, was charged with trespass with intent to search for hares with dogs following an alleged incident on New Year’s Eve, 2023 in Faxfleet, East Yorkshire. The 37-year-old will appear at Beverley Magistrates’ Court on December 16 alongside co-accused Shaun Price, 54, of Wakefield.

A DAD who failed to ensure his child regularly attended school has been fined. David Taylor, of Coniston Road, Barnsley, admitted the charge which was pursued by Barnsley Council. He was fined £146, told to pay court costs of £75 and a £58 surcharge following a hearing at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court.
